브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 상임고문이 오는 6·1 지방선거와 함께 치러지는 국회의원 보궐선거 인천 계양을에 출마한다.
고용진 민주당 수석대변인은 이날 오전 국회에서 열린 비상대책위원회 후 브리핑을 통해 "인천 계양을에 이재명 상임고문을 후보자로 의결했다"고 밝혔다. 인천 계양을은 송영길 전 대표가 내리 5선 의원을 지낸 민주당의 텃밭으로 분류된다.
고용진 수석대변인은 "최근 지도부가 이재명 고문에게 지방선거 승리를 위해서 직접 출마해줄 것을 요청했고, 이 고문도 이에 동의했다"며 "계양을에 출마하는 동시에 이번 선거 총괄선거대책위원장을 맡기는 걸로 오늘 비대위가 결정했다"고 전했다.
비대위는 이재명 고문의 전략공천에 대해 만장일치로 의결한 것으로 전해졌다. 이에 대해 고 수석대변인은 "비대위원들이 언론에서 다른 개인적인 얘기를 한 것이 있었지만 오늘은 그에 대해 찬반 의견을 개진하지 않고 결정했다"면서 "이 고문에 대한 (전략공천) 필요성에 대해 다 동의한 것"이라고 말했다.
한편 민주당은 남아있던 보궐선거 지역 중 안철수 대통령직인수위원장 출마설이 돌고 있는 경기 성남분당갑에 김병관 전 의원을 공천했다. 또 경남 창원의창에는 김지수 창원의창 지역위원장을 공천하며 7곳 재보궐 지역에 대한 후보 공천을 마무리했다.

Lee Jae-myung, a standing advisor to the Democratic Party of Korea, will run for Gyeyang, Incheon, in the by-election for lawmakers, which will be held with the upcoming June 1 local elections.
In a briefing after the emergency committee held at the National Assembly earlier in the day, Democratic Party's chief spokesman Ko Yong-jin said, "We voted as a candidate for standing advisor Lee Jae-myung in Gyeyang, Incheon."
"The leadership recently asked Lee Jae-myung to run directly to win the local elections, and Lee agreed," said senior spokesman Ko Yong-jin. "The emergency committee decided today to run for Gyeyang and serve as the head of the election."
The emergency committee reportedly unanimously voted on Lee Jae-myung's strategic nomination. In response, senior spokesman Koh said, "The non-committees have talked about other personal things in the media, but today we decided without expressing opinions on them," adding, "We all agreed on the need for (strategic nomination) for this adviser."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea nominated former lawmaker Kim Byung-kwan for Bundang Gap in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, where rumors are circulating that he will run for presidential transition Ahn Cheol Soo among the remaining by-election areas.
