평해 남대천 단오제는 매년 음력 5월 5일 더운 여름을 맞기 전에 모내기를 끝내고 풍년을 기원하는 기풍제로, 군은 올해 단오제를 준비하면서 코로나19 단계적 일상회복에 맞춰 다채로운 프로그램을 마련했다.
행사 첫날인 3일은 본 행사에 앞서 축하공연과 남대천가요제 예선이 치러지고, 4일에는 평해읍사무소에서부터 시가행진을 시작으로 하늘에 제사를 지내는 제천제례와 울진지역에서 전승되는 대표적인 줄당기기인 ‘월송큰줄당기기’등 다양한 전통문화 행사가 진행될 예정이다.
또한, 방문객들과 함께할 수 있는 공연행사로 풍물놀이패, 도립국악단, 남대천가요제, 축하공연 등과 함께 체험할 수 있는 창포머리감기, 널뛰기, 투호, 제기차기와 같은 부대행사로 다채로운 즐길거리를 선보인다.
