[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 경남경찰청은 지난 5월 2일부터 6월 24일까지 8주간 온·오프라인으로 연계된 성매매 불법 영업 20건을 단속하고, 업주 22명과 장소를 제공한 건물주 6명 등 총 32명을 검거했다고 1일 밝혔다.
또한 범죄수익 1억4천3백만 원을 기소 전, 몰수·추징 보전을 신청하고, 과세자료 4억1천4백만 원을 각 세무서에 통보했다.
이번 단속은 사회적 거리두기 방역수칙이 완화됨에 따라 성매매 영업이 확산될 우려가 있고, 최근 성매매 영업이 온·오프라인으로 연계되어 있는 점을 고려해 시행됐다.
주요 단속 사례로는 지난 5월 16일 창원 상남동에서 2019년 4월부터 3년간 인터넷 광고로 손님을 모아, 오피스텔 8개 호실에서 성매매를 알선하고 2억 3천여만 원의 수익을 얻은 업주 2명을 검거해 이중 1명을 구속하는 등의 성과를 얻었다고 발표했다.
경찰은 온라인 사이트 광고를 통한 성매매 영업이 더욱 성행할 것으로 예상하고, 지속적인 단속을 할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
