파주시는 대학병원 건립과 바이오헬스 거점 육성을 위해 역점사업으로 추진 중인 파주메디컬클러스터 조성사업이 본궤도에 올랐다고 밝혔다.
시는 지난 7일 열린 중앙토지수용위원회(이하 중토위) 공익성 심의에서 사업의 공공성 강화와 성실한 보상협의 이행을 조건으로 심의를 통과했다.

이번 중토위 사업인정 협의가 완료됨에 따라 빠른 시일 내에 지장물 조사와 보상계획 공고, 감정평가 등 보상절차를 거쳐 올 연말쯤 협의보상을 시작해 내년 상반기 중 사업에 착수할 예정이다.
김경일 파주시장은 “파주시민의 오랜 숙원인 대학병원을 차질 없이 건립하고, 바이오헬스산업의 신성장 거점으로 집중 육성해 경기북부 경제중심지 도약의 기반을 마련하겠다”면서, “주민들과 지속적인 소통을 통해 투명하고 공정한 보상이 이뤄질 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 파주메디컬클러스터는 서패동 일원 45만㎡ 부지에 총사업비 1조5,000억원을 투입해 종합의료시설(대학병원), 혁신의료연구단지, 바이오융복합단지 등을 조성하는 사업으로 약 1만개 이상 양질의 일자리가 창출돼 지역 발전에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 파주=박정호기자
