[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 밀양아리랑우주천문대서 오는 14일 올해 가장 큰 보름달을 맞아 특별 프로그램 ‘보름달이 ‘망(望)’했네‘를 진행한다.
천문학에서는 달이 완전히 사라지는 때를 삭, 달이 완전히 차오르는 보름달을 망으로 표현한다.
일반적으로 말하는 보름달의 공전주기는 29.5일인데 이는 삭과 망을 합쳐서 삭망월을 기준으로 하는 주기이기도 하다.
또한 달은 지구 주변을 타원궤도로 공전하며 약 한 달을 주기로 지구와 가까워지고 멀어지기를 반복하는데, 그중 지구와 가까워지는 때를 천문학에서는 근지점이라고 표현한다.
이 근지점은 매 공전 주기마다 조금씩 달라지며, 그중 달이 특별히 가까워졌을 때 뜨는 보름달을 슈퍼문이라고 부른다.
이번 보름달은 근지점을 기준으로 지구와의 거리 35만7,300km로 2022년 중 가장 큰 보름달이며, 가장 작은 보름달 대비 지름이 16% 정도 크고, 36%가량 밝다.
다만, 눈으로는 구분이 불가능하며 망원경으로는 크기의 변화를 느낄 수 있다.
이번 야간 프로그램은 슈퍼문 강의, 천체투영관, 천체관측 3개 순서로 이루어지며, 날이 맑을 경우 보름달 직접 사진으로 촬영하는 것도 가능하다.
밀양아리랑우주천문대 최창민 강사는 “이번 특별 프로그램을 통해서 우리에게 친숙한 달에 대해 많은 이야기를 들려드리고 싶다”며 많은 참여를 부탁했다.
이번 행사는 밀양아리랑우주천문대 예약페이지를 통해 야간 프로그램과 동일하게 예약 가능하며, 참여 최대인원은 40명이다.
