고양시가 폭염 피해 예방을 위해 주요 교차로 및 횡단보도 구간에 야외그늘막 615개를 설치했다.
「폭염대비 야외그늘막 설치 사업」은 2019년부터 시작됐다.
올해는 운전자의 시인성 확보와 어린이 교통사고 예방을 고려하여 어린이보호구역에 노란색 그늘막을 설치하는 등 어린이 보호에도 신경썼다.

시 관계자는 “신호대기 중 잠시나마 그늘에서 쉴 수 있도록 마련한 그늘막이 폭염에 지쳐있는 시민들에게 작은 휴식처가 되길 바란다”며 한낮 야외활동 자제, 물 자주 마시기, 시원한 곳에서 쉬기 등 폭염예방행동요령을 숙지해 건강한 여름을 보내시길 바란다“고 전했다.
