고양시는 지난 26일 귀뚜라미그룹에서 저소득층 학생의 학업 장려를 위해 장학금 3천만원을 지원해 전달식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
전달받은 장학금은 기초생활수급자 및 차상위계층 대학생과 고등학생 등 18명의 학생에게 전달 될 예정이다.
귀뚜라미그룹 창업주인 최진민 회장의 사재 출연으로 설립된 귀뚜라미문화재단은 1985년부터 사회공헌사업으로‘귀뚜라미 장학생’ 지원사업을 하고 있다.

귀뚜라미 문화재단은 학술연구 지원사업, 교육기관 발전기금 등 다양한 사회공헌 사업을 추진하며 37년에 걸쳐 480억원을 사회에 환원하는 등 기업의 사회적 책임을 다하고 있다.
귀뚜라미그룹 서상원 상무는 “누구에게나 교육의 기회는 평등해야한다는 설립 취지를 이행하고 지역사회 발전을 위한 인재양성에 힘쓰기 위해 전국의 저소득가정 학생들에게 장학 사업을 펼치고 있다”며 “학생들이 어려운 여건에서도 성실히 학업을 이어나갔으면 좋겠다”고 밝혔다.
