22일 군에 따르면 대한축구협회가 주최한 전국 중등축구대회는 78개팀(고학년 43팀, 저학년팀 35팀) 1,500여명의 선수들이 참가하여 조별리그전을 거쳐 본선 토너먼트로 진행됐다.
저학년 U-14에서는 안동중학교가, 고학년 U-15에서는 경주무산FC가 승리하며 우승을 차지했다.
작년 코로나19로 인해 무관중으로 진행되었으나, 이번 추계대회에서는 많은 관중들이 함께하며 대회 기간 내내 무더위에도 불구하고 열띤 응원과 박수갈채를 보내며 격려를 아끼지 않았다.
손병복 울진군수는“모든 선수들과 관계자들이 아무런 사고 없이 좋은 경기를 펼쳐줘 감사드린다”며“앞으로도 적극적인 스포츠마케팅을 통해 전국 규모의 축구대회를 지속적으로 유치하여 지역경제를 활성화 시키며 울진의 브랜드 가치를 높여 가겠다”고 말했다.
