[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 26일 상평일반산업단지 내 입주기업체 및 주민들의 주차난 해소를 위해 남강전화국 맞은편 유휴지 6545㎡를 임시주차장 조성공사에 착수했다.
이번 임시주차장으로 조성되는 부지는 상평산단 내 유휴지로, 사업비 1억2440만원을 투입해 실시설계를 완료하고, 230면의 주차면 확보해 오는 12월 준공해 개방할 예정이다.
유휴지는 지난 2018년까지 주말텃밭으로 이용됐다가 방치된 후 일부 시민들의 불법 경작이 계속됐던 곳으로, 농업폐기물 방치, 농업부산물 소각 등으로 인한 악취 때문에 민원이 지속적으로 발생하고 있는 지역이다.
인근 주민 A씨는 “그동안 새벽부터 시작되는 소음과 농사지을 때 쓴 비닐 등의 소각, 거름냄새 등으로 이만저만 불편한 게 아니었는데 이젠 속이 후련하다”고 말했다.
