[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 자연보호헌장 선포 제44주년 기념 제10회 창원시장기 자연보호경진대회가 10일 성산구 용호동 62-3 소재 자연사랑학습장에서 개최했다.

이번 경진대회는 조명래 제2부시장을 비롯한 시의원, 창원시 자연보호협의회 회원 등 250여 명이 참석했다.

1978년 10월 5일 제정된 자연보호헌장의 뜻을 되새기고, 창원·마산·진해 지역에서 회원들의 다양한 자연보호 활동 사례를 발표하고 공유해 자연보호 실천 의지를 다짐하고 한걸음 정진하는 자리가 됐다. 시는 자연환경 보전에 이바지한 유공자 46명에 대해 표창했다.

조명래 제2부시장은 “자연환경을 지켜나가기 위한 창원시 자연보호협의회의 활동과 노력에 감사의 말을 전한다”며 “창원시는 자연보호를 실천하며 건강하고 지속 가능한 환경 보전에 힘쓰고, 자연과 사람이 함께 누릴 수 있는 살기 좋은 자연환경을 만드는 데 함께 노력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

한편 자연보호 창원시협의회는 1981년 3월에 발족하여 ‘자연을 아끼고 사랑하며, 환경을 보전하는 일은 모든 국민의 의무’라는 자연보호헌장의 책무를 다하기 위한 대표적인 자연보호 민간봉사단체이다.
