[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시 정수장에 고도정수처리시설 설치사업이 내년부터 본격적으로 시작될 전망이다.
진주정수장 고도정수처리시설 설치사업은 노후정수장 정비사업으로 통합된 2정수장에 오존 살균과 활성탄 흡착 여과방식의 17만5000톤 규모의 고도정수처리시설을 설치하는 사업이다.
이 사업은 국가균형발전특별회계 사업예산 420억원, 도비 54억원, 시비 126억원으로 총 사업비 600억원이 투입으로 오는 2023년부터 오는 2026년까지다.
진주시는 고도정수처리시설이 설치되면 표준정수처리 공정에서 완전히 처리되지 않는 미량 유기물질까지 완벽하게 제거하고, 봄부터 여름철에 자주 발생하는 조류에도 대처할 것으로 예상했다.
이번 사업은 조규일 진주시장이 수차례 환경부 및 경남도를 방문해 고도정수처리시설 도입의 시급성을 설명하고, 사업비 지원을 요청해 내년도 신규사업으로 선정되면서 가능하게 됐다.
진주시 관계자는 “진주는 깨끗한 진양호 원수를 확보하고 있지만 기상이변에 따른 조류 발생에도 완벽하게 대처할 수 있는 고도정수처리시설이 필요했다”며“시민들의 건강과 안전을 위해 최선을 다할 것이다”고 말했다.
