[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 진주시 LH 대강당에서 가속화되는 지방 소멸을 멈추고 지방을 살리기 위한 해법을 찾기 위한 ‘미지답 경남 포럼’이 24일 열렸다.

이번 포럼은 ‘경남, 하늘을 날다, 우주를 꿈꾸다’를 주제로 우리나라 항공우주산업의 최대집적지인 서부경남을 항공우주산업의 메카로 조성하기 위한 전략 등을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 포럼에는 도내 항공우주산업 기업체, 항공우주 관련 대학생, 지자체 공무원 등 300여명이 참석해, 최근 우주항공청 사천 설치, 우주산업 클러스터 조성을 비롯해 사천에 위치한 한국항공우주산업의 FA-50 수출 등 지역 내 항공우주산업에 대한 관심을 여실히 보여줬다.

특히 특별강연으로 이준 한국항공우주연구원 전략기획본부장의 ‘미래 향해 솟아 오른 K-항공우주산업’과 황정아 한국천문연구원 책임연구원의 ‘지구촌은 지금 뜨거운 우주전쟁’ 강연이 참석자들의 많은 관심을 받았다.

이어 경상국립대학교 권진회 교수의 사회로 김진근 경남연구원 미래전략본부장, 한창헌 한국항공우주산업 미래사업부문장, 조여문 경상남도 항공우주산업과장이 패널로 참여해 ‘서부경남을 항공우주산업 메카로 키우기 위한 전략’을 주제로 종합토론이 진행됐다.

종합토론에서는 도내 항공우주 중소기업의 지속 가능한 발전 방안과 항공우주산업을 기반으로 서부경남이 발전하기 위한 인프라 조성, 우주항공청 설립 상황 등에 대한 논의가 진행됐으며 서부경남 항공우주산업의 발전 방향에 다양한 의견이 제시됐다.

박완수 경남도지사는 “우주항공청 설치와 함께 경남도는 새롭게 비상할 수 있을 것으로 생각한다”며 “이번 포럼에서 논의될 내용들이 대한민국 항공우주산업 도약에 중요한 밑거름이 되기를 바란다”면서 "경남도는 우주항공청 설치와 항공우주산업의 발전에 최선의 노력을 다할 것"을 약속했다.
