[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도는 문화체육관광부가 주관하는 ‘2023년 생활체육시설 기금사업’ 추가 공모에서 국비 60억 원을 확보했다.
이번 공모에서 경남도는 2023년 국민체육센터 건립지원 시니어친화형 2개소가 선정되어, 전국 광역지자체 중 최대 규모로 신규사업을 유치하는 쾌거를 이뤘다.
이번 추가 공모는 올해 10월 접수를 시작해 11월 문체부 현장실사와 평가를 실시해 선정위원회 심의와 국무조정실 종합검토 등을 거쳐 지난 2일 최종 확정 됐다.
이번 공모 선정으로 건립될 시니어친화형 국민체육센터는 대통령 국정과제로 어르신 스포츠 활동 증진과 육체적·정신적 건강 증진에 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.
경남도는 ‘의령 시니어친화형 국민체육센터’와 ‘사천 시니어친화형 국민체육센터, 도내 2개소의 국민체육센터건립이 최종 확정되어, 2025년까지 총 166억 원(국비 60, 지방비 106)을 투입해 도민건강 증진과 건전한 여가 생활을 즐길 수 있는 실내종합체육시설을 마련하게 됐다.
특히, ‘의령 시니어친화형 국민체육센터’는 전국 최초로 국민체육센터와 실외에서 할 수 있는 파크골프장이 함께 구성되어 있어, 중앙부처 평가에서 큰 호응을 얻어 우수사례로 선정되기도 했다.
한편, 경남도는 올해 전 시군을 대상으로 공모사업의 적극적인 홍보와 상담(컨설팅)을 실시해 ?1차(3.3.) 생활체육시설 기금사업 공모에 29억 원(전국 1위) ?2차(8.23.) 공모 129억 원(전국 1위) ?3차(12.2.) 공모 60억 원으로 3회 연속 전국 1위 달성으로 2022년 한 해 동안 국비 218억 원을 확보했다.
이는 문체부 사전 건의 방문, 문체부 현장 실사 방문 시 적극적인 설명 등 체계적인 공모 준비를 한 경남도의 적극적인 노력이 반영된 결과이다.
임재동 도 체육지원과장은 “이번 공모선정과 국비확보로 민선8기 도정과제인 파크골프장 조성과 대통령 국정과제인 시니어친화형 건강 인프라를 구축해 어르신들이 쉽게 체육활동에 참여하여 건강과 행복이 실현되는 기반을 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 생활체육 시설 조성과 관리에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
