[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 7일 천안시에 있는 한국자동차연구원 본원에서 ‘수소특장치 실증사업 협력 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
지난 2021년 한 해 동안 창원시 마산합포구 일원에서 실제 쓰레기수거차량으로 실증 운행을 했던 수소청소트럭이 10톤 트럭 기반으로 새롭게 향상된 성능과 차량으로 재탄생돼 2023년부터 창원시 일원을 달린다.
산업통상자원부는 지난 2020년부터 오는 2023년까지 총사업비 240억원을 투입해 한자연 주도로 ‘대형 수소트럭 기반 특장차용 요소부품·시스템 기술개발 및 실증 과제’를 수행하고 있다.
개발이 완료된 10톤 기반 수소청소트럭의 실증 운행을 위한 공모를 통해 실증 지자체로 창원특례시를 비롯해 서울시, 충주시, 부안군이 선정돼 이날 업무협약을 체결했다.
홍 시장은 한국자동차연구원을 찾아 나승식 한자연 원장, 남경모 산업부 자동차과장, 남원호 현대차 판매사업부장을 예방한 자리에서 수소특장차의 성공적인 실증 운행 협력방안을 논의했다.
창원에 소재한 한자연 수소모빌리티 연구본부를 중심으로 내년부터 본격적으로 추진될 육·해·공 수소모빌리티의 핵심기술 개발·실증이 창원에서 원활히 추진될 수 있도록 관심과 협력을 당부했다.
홍남표 시장은 “우리 시는 이미 5톤 수소청소트럭을 통해 수소특장차 실증 지원과 홍보에 최고의 역량을 보인 바 있다”며 “이번 실증사업을 성공적으로 시행해 수소 관련 실증에 있어 창원은 일반 지자체와는 확실히 다른, 최고의 성과를 만들어 내는 지자체라는 명성을 입증하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “그동안 시가 이뤄낸 수소산업 성과에 안주하지 않고, 원전, 방위산업과 연계한 새로운 수소산업 정책을 추진해, 창원이 우리나라 수소모빌리티 개발의 인큐베이터이자 수소산업의 메카가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
