[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남의 섬을 사랑하는 섬 지킴이이자 섬 지원 활동가로 구성된 경남 섬 서포터즈 ‘섬 어엿비’가 9일 통영 만지도와 연대도에서 섬 환경정비 활동과 탐방 및 홍보 활동을 실시했다.
이번 섬 탐방 활동은 통영에서 국내 최초로 만들어진 해상택시를 이용하여 섬에 들어갔으며, 어질러진 해안변 쓰레기 줍기 등 섬 마을 환경정비를 실시해 섬 주민들의 불편을 해소했다.
또한 섬 어엿비들은 섬의 역사와 문화를 공유하는 시간을 가지기도 했다.
이번 섬 탐방 행사는 섬 서포터즈의 5번째 봉사활동으로 섬 주민들과 관광객들에게 큰 호응을 얻었다.
만지도는 주변의 다른 섬보다 늦게 주민이 정착해 만(晩,늦을 만), 지(地,땅 지)를 써서 만지도라 불리며, 14호 한려해상국립공원 명품마을로 선정되기도 했다.
특히 연대도와 연결된 출렁다리(소원다리)에서 소원을 빌고, 만지도 옛길(몬당길)에서는 200년 해송을 만날 수 있다.

김제홍 경상남도 해양수산국장은 “한 해 동안 섬 환경정비와 홍보를 위해 애써주신 섬 어엿비분들께 감사드린다”며 “경남도 역시 경남의 섬 발전과 홍보를 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
이번 활동을 마치며 ‘섬 어엿비들’은 올해의 활동을 마무리하고 내년 꽃이 필 무렵 더욱 활발한 활동을 약속했으며, 경남도 역시 그에 맞는 지원을 추진할 예정이다.
