브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자 = 국민의힘이 문재인 전 대통령의 "민주주의 후퇴" 발언을 연일 비판하고 나섰다.
주호영 국민의힘 원내대표는 3일 원내대책위원회의에서 "어떻게 '민주주의 후퇴'를 입에 담을 수 있는지 참으로 인식체계가 궁금하다"며 "문재인 대통령께서 신년에 민주주의 후퇴를 언급한 것은 '잊혀지고 싶다'라는 본인의 말씀과도 맞지 않을 뿐 아니라, 국민들께서 우리가 지난 5년간 저런 분을 대통령으로 모셨나 하는 의아심을 갖게 할 뿐"이라고 밝혔다. 그러면서 "제발 자중하시기 바란다"고 덧붙였다.
앞서 문재인 전 대통령이 지난 2일 이재명 더불어민주당 대표를 만나 "우리가 어렵게 이룬 민주주의가 절대 후퇴해서는 안 된다"고 말한 것을 정면으로 비판한 것이다.

김미애 국민의힘 원내대변인도 3일 논평을 통해 "지난 문재인 정권 5년은 우리 '민주주의'에서 '자유'가 삭제되고 '자유민주주의'를 말하면 '민주주의'에 대한 도전이 되는 국가로 가는 과정이었다"며 "문재인 정권 5년은 진영(陣營)만을 위한 '민주주의', 민주주의의 탈을 쓴 '전체주의' 시대로 나아갔다고 봐야 옳다"고 밝혔다.
김 원내대변인은 "어제 문 전 대통령은 거대 야당 대표의 신분을 이용해 방탄에만 혈안인 이재명 대표를 꾸짖었어야 했다"며 "문재인 전 대통령이 국민을 도외시하고 '진영(陣營)의 전직 대통령'으로 머무는 모습이 딱할 뿐"이라고 말했다.
