브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 지난 15일 아랍에미리트(UAE)를 국빈 방문 중인 윤석열 대통령이 'UAE의 적은 이란'이라고 발언한데 대해, 이란이 공개적으로 불쾌한 심경을 내비쳤다.
16일(현지시간) 이란 IRNA 통신 보도에 따르면 나세르 카나디 이란 외무부 대변인은 "최근 한국 정부의 태도, 특히 이란과 UAE의 관계에 대한 외교적으로 부적절한 한국 대통령의 발언을 심각하게 지켜보고 평가하고 있다"고 했다.
그는 UAE를 포함한 페르시아만 연안 국가들과 이란의 역사적이고 우호적인 관계, 그리고 이 같은 상황에서 빠르게 진행되고 있는 긍정적인 전개를 전혀 모르고 한 발언이라고 비판했다.
아울러 이번 사안에 대한 한국 정부의 설명을 기다리고 있다고 덧붙이기도 했다.
이에 우리 외교부는 17일 "이란과의 관계 등 국가 간의 관계와는 무관하다"면서 "불필요하게 확대 해석되는 일이 없기를 바란다"고 당부했다.
외교부는 "보도된 발언은 UAE에서의 임무 수행에 최선을 다하라는 취지의 장병 격려 차원 말씀이었다"며 "우리나라는 1962년 수교 이래 이란과 오랜 우호 협력 관계를 이어온 바, 이란과의 지속적 관계발전에 대한 우리 정부의 의지는 변함없이 확고하다"고 강조했다.
한편 윤 대통령은 지난 15일 UAE에 파병된 국군 아크부대를 찾은 자리에서 "UAE의 적은, 가장 위협적인 국가는 이란이고 우리 적은 북한이다. 우리와 UAE가 매우 유사한 입장에 있다"고 말한 바 있다.

"The reported remarks were aimed at encouraging soldiers to do their best to carry out their duties in the UAE," the ministry said. "Our government's commitment to continuing relations with Iran remains firm since Korea established diplomatic ties in 1962."
Meanwhile, President Yoon said in a visit to the South Korean Army's Ark unit dispatched to the UAE on the 15th, "The enemy of the UAE, the most threatening country, is Iran, and our enemy is North Korea. We and the UAE are in very similar positions," he said.
