[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 8일 현대비앤지스틸(주)(대표이사 정일선)가 주거개선 사업비 2억2500만 원을 기부했다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 관내 주거환경 개선이 필요한 취약계층을 지원하기 위한 것으로, 현대비앤지스틸과 마산종합사회복지관이 공동으로 추진하며, 창원시는 보일러, 벽지, 도배, 장판, 샷시 등 집수리가 필요한 저소득 세대와 새로운 보금자리가 필요한 세대를 조사 및 추천하고 현대비앤지스틸과 마산종합사회복지관은 현장확인을 거친 뒤 지원한다.
현대비앤지스틸은 지난 2014년부터 지금까지 스틸하우스 7세대와 주거개선 412세대를 지원하였으며 용지호수 어울림 작은도서관을 건립하는 등 지속적인 사회공헌사업을 펼치고 있다.
김성문 창원공장장은 “어려운 이웃들이 조금이라도 더 쾌적하고 안전한 곳에서 생활하기를 바라는 마음으로 참여하고 있다”며 “회사는 시민들과 늘 가까운 곳에서 좀 더 많은 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.
홍남표 창원특례시장은 “기록적인 한파와 난방비 급등으로 어느 때보다 힘든 겨울을 보내고 있는 어려운 이웃들에게 현대비앤지스틸의 주거환경개선 사업은 큰 힘이 된다”며 “지난해에도 74세대의 주거환경개선을 해 주셔서 많은 도움이 됐으며, 지속적인 기부와 노력에 감사드린다”고 말했다.
