[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 사천시는 사천시민의 이름으로 수여하는 최고 영예로운 상인 제26회 사천시민상 수상자를 선정했다고 14일 밝혔다.
시는 지난 5일 제26회 사천시 시민상 심사위원회를 열고 조용환, 곽병환, 정문식 씨 등 3명을 수상자로 결정했다.
시는 지난해 11월부터 올해 2월까지 4개월 동안 관내 기관이나 단체의 장과 읍·면·동장 등의 추천을 통해 4개 부문 8명의 시민상 후보자를 접수했다.
그리고 지난 3월부터 추천 후보자에 대한 현지조사, 각 분야별 전문가로 구성된 사천시 시민상 심사위원회의 공정하고 투명한 평가를 통해 최종 선정했다.
선행부문 조용환 씨는 평소 지속적인 봉사활동으로 이웃사랑을 실천하고 지역사회 발전에 기여해 왔으며 지난해 보이스피싱 현금수거책 검거와 피해예방에 결정적인 역할을 한 공로를 인정받아 선정됐다.
체육부문 곽병환 씨는 체육인으로서 투철한 사명감과 애향심으로 각종 체육행사를 추진하고 시민건강을 위해 헌신적으로 봉사해왔으며 각종 시 체육행사 등에 시민들의 참여를 끌어내는 등 시민의 건강과 체력증진에 기여했다.
지역개발부문 정문식 씨는 평소 지역주민을 위한 생활환경개선과 주민숙원사업 등의 해결을 위해 헌신했으며 30년 간 지역주민들의 주거환경 개선, 주민자치 활성화 제고하는데 기여한 공적이 인정돼 선정됐다.
제26회 사천시 시민상은 오는 5월 10일 사천시 문화예술회관에서 열리는 ‘사천시민의 날’ 기념식 행사에서 수여될 예정이다.
올해 26회째를 맞는 사천시 시민상은 다양한 분야에서 사천시 명예를 빛나게 한 공적이 뚜렷한 사람에게 수여하는 상으로 지난 1996년부터 지난해까지 모두 52명이 수상했다.
