[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 제4회 대한민국 & 제29회 함안수박 축제가 오는 21일부터 23일까지 함주공원 다목적 잔디구장에서 열린다.
4년 만에 대면행사로 실시되는 이번 축제에는 전시행사, 체험행사, 직거래장터, 먹거리장터, 공연행사, 소비자 참여행사 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영할 계획이다.
앞서 지난달 31일부터 지난 1일까지 진해중앙시장에서 군항제 행사와 연계한 수박 무료시식 등 사전홍보행사를 실시했다.
이날 행사에는 함안수박축제위원 임원 및 함안농요보존회 임원 등 25명이 참여해 대대적인 사전 수박축제 홍보를 실시했다.
이번 축제는 함안군민의 날 행사, 처녀뱃사공 전국가요제, 함안 스트리트 댄스 페스티벌 행사와 함께 다채롭게 진행된다.

축제 대표 프로그램들은 △함안수박 홍보관, 친환경·스마트 농자재 전시, 수박조각대회 작품전시 등 전시행사와 △함안수박 직판장, 함안 특산물·가공품 직판 등 직거래행사 △수박화채 나눔, 함안수박 무료시식, 수박주막 등 먹거리 장터 △수박 포토존, 수박 가공식품 먹거리 체험 △곤충 체험 및 전시 등 가족 체험행사 △에어바운스, 키다리삐에로 요술풍선 증정 △수박 페이스 페인팅 등의 키즈존 운영 등 7개 분야 34개 단체가 참여해 풍성한 프로그램을 선보일 계획이다.
시상종목은 명품수박 품평회, 수박 가족 조각대회, 수박 가요제가 있으며, 명품수박 품평회는 오는 21일 지역별 엄선된 출품수박을 엄격히 심사해 대상, 금상, 은상, 동상, 왕수박 5개 분야에 대해 오는 22일 개막식 때 시상할 계획으로 대상 출품자에게는 농촌진흥청장 상장이 수여될 예정이다.
수박 가족 조각대회는 참가를 희망하는 선착순 100팀 가족에게 함안수박축제위원회에서 택배로 함안수박을 보내고 가족들끼리 작품 완성 후 오는 22일 오전 11시까지 축제 행사장에 가져오면 작품전시 및 심사가 이뤄진다.

시상은 당일 오후 2시에 진행될 계획이다. 참가자격은 초등학생 및 미취학아동 포함 3인 이상 가족이 해당된다.
수박 가요제는 남녀노소 누구나 접수가능하며, 21일~22일 오후 3시 각각 20명씩 선착순 접수자에 한에 실시된다. 본선은 23일 오후 2시 함주공원 다목적구장 특설무대에서 실시된다.
조각대회 및 가요제 참가 희망자는 함안수박축제위원회로 전화하면 세부적인 참가접수 방법에 대해 안내 받을 수 있다. 아울러 축제 관련 자세한 일정과 참여 방법은 함안군청 홈페이지와 함안군 농업 기술센터 공식 SNS를 통해 확인할 수 있다.
함안수박축제위원회 강대훈 회장은 “오랜 기다림 속에서 수박생산자들과 소비자들의 직접적인 교류의 장을 마련하기 위해 준비한 올해의 수박축제는 어느 해보다 맛있고, 다양한 수박을 준비 했다”며 “대한민국 수박축제의 명성에 걸맞은 다채로운 프로그램과 함께 즐길 수 있는 체험행사를 많이 준비하겠다. 당도 높고 품질 좋은 함안수박에 많은 분들의 관심을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
한편, 200여년의 재배역사를 가진 함안수박은 남강과 낙동강 유역 일조량이 풍부한 기름진 토양에서 재배해 당도가 높아 정부로부터 2008년 수박작목 지리적표시제를 등록(국립농산물품질관리원)했으며, 2016년에는 함안수박 산업특구(중소벤처기업부)로 지정됐다.
