[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 지난 3월부터 4월까지 경제수·큰나무·탄소저감 조림, 내화수림대 조성 등 4개 사업에 21억원의 예산을 투입해 263ha 면적에 74만 8700본의 나무를 심어 2023년 조림사업을 완료했다고 3일 밝혔다.

올해 식재된 수종은 목재생산을 위한 낙엽송, 스트로브잣나무, 백합 등 경제수종과 산림소득을 위한 고로쇠나무, 헛개나무 등 특용수종을 심어 다양한 방법으로 지속가능한 산림자원 육성 기반을 마련했다.

이외에도 최근 기후변화에 대응한 신규 탄소흡수원 확보를 위해 도심지역과 교통량이 많은 도로 인근 산림에 탄소저감 조림으로 산림의 공익기능을 극대화했으며 내화수림대 조림, 산림재해방지 조림 등으로 산불·산사태·가뭄피해로부터 산림을 보호하기 위해서도 최선을 다했다.

향후 군은 3년간 풀베기, 덩굴제거 등 조림지 사후 관리를 통한 조림목의 생육환경을 개선해 조림목이 잘 자라 산림자원 순환경제 기반을 구축할 수 있도록 지속적인 노력을 기울일 계획이다.
