【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 지난 2021년 12월 폐역 된 경주역 ‘경주문화관1918’의 외벽에 온백색의 LED조명의 아름다운 야경을 선보일 예정이다.

3일 경주시에 따르면 시는 총 사업비 3억 2000만원을 투입해, 경관조명 설치에 필요한 행정절차가 마무리되는 7월부터 본격적인 공사에 착수해 늦어도 오는 9월까지 완공할 계획이다.
경주문화관1918의 경관조명이 완료되면, 경주문화관1918의 가치를 높여 문화와 볼거리가 부족한 원도심의 랜드마크 역할이 기대된다.
옛 경주역이 경주의 옛 관문이자 지역을 대표하는 근대건축물인 만큼, 화려한 조명보다는 절제된 조명으로 주변의 환경과 조화롭고 각각의 공간들과 어우러질 수 있는 조명을 설치하기로 기본 계획을 세웠다.
이를 위해 역사성과 원도심의 랜드마크 역할이 부각될 수 있도록 옛 경주역 외벽에는 월워셔 조명을, 지붕에는 투광조명을 각각 설치할 예정이다.
또 볼라드 조명과 수목 조명도 함께 설치해 어두웠던 옛 경주역 광장을 밝혀 야간 산책로의 역할도 부여할 방침이다.
경주시는 이번 사업의 완성도를 높이기 위해 절제된 경관조명으로 유명한 옛 서울역, 군산세관, 대전 근현대사전시관, 일본 도쿄역, 스웨덴 할름스타드 중앙역의 경관조명을 사진 자료 등을 통해 벤치마킹했다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “이번 경주문화관1918 경관조명 설치 사업은 문화와 볼거리가 부족한 경주 원도심에 품격 높은 관광인프라 구축은 물론 아름답고 세련된 세계 속의 빛의 도시로 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편 경주문화관1918은 폐역이 된 옛 경주역을 임시활용하기 위해 경주시가 역사 내부에 예술 전시관, 다목적 회의실, 창작스튜디오 등으로 새롭게 단장한 지역의 대표 복합문화공간이다.

On the other hand, Gyeongju Cultural Center 1918 is a representative complex cultural space in the region that Gyeongju City has renovated into an art exhibition hall, multi-purpose meeting room, and creative studio in order to temporarily utilize the old Gyeongju Station, which has become closed.
