10일 경주시는 시청 대외협력실에서 ㈜에스피씨아이와 투자금액 630억, 50명의 신규 일자리창출을 핵심으로 안강 검단산단 내 메탈로센 촉매, 반도체용 전구체 등 반도체용 소재 전문생산 경주 3공장 증설 투자양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 주낙영 경주시장, 이철우 시의장, 이락우 경제산업위원장, 정성룡.이강희 지역구 의원을 비롯해 이철 ㈜에스피씨아이 대표 및 임직원 등 20여명이 참석했다.
㈜에스피씨아이는 2009년도 울산테크노파크에서 설립한 플라스틱용 촉매 제조 전문회사로 폴리올레핀(PO)의 물성을 획기적으로 개선할 수 있는 차세대 촉매인 메탈로센 촉매를 LG화학, DL케미칼, 롯데케미칼 등 중화학 대기업에 공급하는 강소기업이다.
그동안 해외 전량 수입에 의존하던 메탈로센 촉매를 국산화 하여 국내 최대 시장 점유율을 자랑할 뿐만 아니라 유럽의 글로벌토탈(Total) 및 태국 PTTGC 등 해외로도 활발하게 수출하고 있다. 이 기술력을 인정받아 2019년부터 반도체용 핵심 전자소재(프리커서)를 삼성전자 1차 협력사에 공급하고 있으며, 2021년에는 경주 안강지역에 제2공장과 최신 설비의 연구소를 신설했다.
투자규모로는 2025년까지 630억을 들여 경주 안강 검단 일반산단 내 25,680m2부지에 성장성이 높은 메탈로센 촉매 사업의 수직계열화를 위한 전용 촉매 공장과 다양한 반도체용 고순도 프리커서 생산을 위해 제3공장을 건립하고 본격 가동시기인 2026년에는 매출 1,500억을 상회할 것으로 예상된다.
