군에 따르면 전기저상버스 운행에 앞서 9일 성공적인 운영을 위한 전기저상버스 시승행사에서 울진군수, 군의장 등 관계자들이 버스승강장에서 직접 탑승해 보는 시간을 가졌다.
이번에 운행하는 전기저상버스는 차내 소음과 진동이 적어 편안한 승차감을 제공하고 기존 버스 대비 차체가 낮아 편리한 탑승이 가능하며, 디젤차량 대비 운영비 절감에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
울진군은 내년에도 예산 확보를 통해 전기저상버스를 추가 도입할 예정이며, 향후 농어촌 버스 전체를 전기저상버스로 교체 운영할 계획이다.
손병복 울진군수는 “친환경 전기저상버스 운행으로 어르신, 장애인 등 교통약자 이동권 증진에 크게 기여 할 것으로 기대된다”며 “교통약자의 교통 편의를 위해 향후 전기 저상버스를 점진적으로 도입해 선진 대중교통 군정을 펼치겠다”고 말했다.
