브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 내년 최저임금이 시간당 9860원으로 최종 확정됐다.
고용노동부는 4일 2024년도 적용 최저임금을 시간급 9860원으로 결정·고시했다.
올해에 비해 240원 오른 것으로, 이를 월급으로 환산할 경우 206만740원(1주 소정근로 40시간 근무, 월 209시간 기준)이다. 사업의 종류별 구분 없이 전 사업장에 동일한 최저임금이 적용된다.
앞서 고용노동부는 지난 7월 20일 최저임금위원회가 15차례 전원회의를 거쳐 의결한 최저임금안을 고시한 이후 31일까지 이의제기 기간을 운영했다.
민주노총에서 이의를 제기했으나 최저임금법 규정 취지·내용 및 최저임금위원회 심의·의결 과정 등을 종합적으로 고려해 수용하지 않았다.
정부는 내년도 최저임금의 현장 안착을 위해 적극적인 홍보·안내와 함께, 사업장에 대한 교육·컨설팅, 노무관리 지도 등을 통해 최저임금 준수율을 높여나갈 계획이다.
이정식 고용노동부 장관은 “이번 최저임금은 어려운 경제상황과 노동시장 여건, 저임금근로자 및 영세자영업자의 목소리를 종합적으로 고려해 최저임금위원회에서 그 어느 때보다 치열한 논의를 거쳐 고심 끝에 결정된 것으로 이는 존중돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
이어 “1988년 도입돼 큰 틀의 변화없이 이어지고 있는 최저임금제도가 변화하는 경제·노동시장 여건을 반영해야 한다”며 “매년 결정과정에서 반복되는 갈등·대립구도도 개선돼야 한다는 지적도 많은 만큼, 앞으로 다양한 의견을 수렴하고 개선방안을 모색해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.
