브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 펄어비스가 주52시간 근무제를 어기고 직원들에게 공짜 야근을 시켰다는 지적이 국정감사장에서 나왔다.
10일 진행된 문화체육관광부 국정감사에서 류호정 정의당 의원은 허진영 펄어비스 대표를 상대로 '공짜 야근' 꼼수 문제를 지적했다.
류 의원은 허진영 대표가 1주일 최대 근로시간의 상한을 정하고 있는 근로기준법상 ’주52시간제‘를 몰래 해제했다면서 ‘잠수함패치(온라인 게임 용어: 게임 이용자에게 별도의 공지 없이 몰래 하는 패치)에 빗대서 꼬집었다.
게임 개발 및 배급사 스마일게이트의 노동자 출신인 류 의원은 "펄어비스는 초과 근무를 없애겠다고 PC-off(업무 시간이 아닐 때 자동으로 PC가 종료되도록 하는 시스템) 제도를 운용하면서도 근무 시간 외에는 서브컴퓨터나 공용컴퓨터를 사용해 일하도록 하고 있다"고 지적하며 "이게 단순 초과 근무보다 더 나쁜 이유는 근무 시간이 기록되지 않는 소위 공짜야근을 시키는 것"이라고 비판했다.
이어 "펄어비스는 의원실에 보고할 때는 ’장시간 노동, 공짜 노동, 만성적 야근: 개선 완료‘ 라고 보고해 놓고 뒤에선 꼼수를 부리고 있었다"면서 "노동 환경이 나아질 것으로 기대하고 있던 직원들에 대한 기만 행위"라고 질타했다.
이에 허진영 대표는 "저도 제보를 통해 그런 관행이 있다는 걸 알게 됐고, 시정을 위해 노력하고 있다"면서 "여전히 문제를 다 개선하지 못한 부분에 대해서는 송구하다"고 사과했다.
류호정 의원은 유인촌 문화체육관광부 장관을 향해서도 "장관들은 기업 대표들을 자주 만나는데, 이렇게 실무자를 만나지 않으면 알 수 없는 일이 많다"며 "오징어잡이배(새벽에도 불이 켜져있는 게임회사 건물)라 불릴 만큼 장시간 노동이 만연한 게임업계 노동자와 만나셔야 한다"고 지적했다.
유인촌 장관은 "게임은 수출 산업의 70% 가까이 차지하고 있는 효자 종목"이라며 "주52시간제를 지키려면 업계가 인력을 충원하는 등 기존과는 다른 계획을 세워야 하는데, 기존의 방식을 계속 고수하면서 생기는 문제로 보인다"고 답했다. 그러면서 "바뀐 환경에 맞게 개선해 보겠다"고 약속했다.
