브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이란의 최고지도자 아야톨라 세예드 알리 하메네이는 팔레스타인 가자지구를 통치하고 있는 무장정파 하마스의 이스라엘 공격과 관련, 자신들이 배후에 있지 않다고 전면부인했다.
미국 CNN 보도에 따르면 아야톨라 하메네이는 10일(현지시간) 테헤란에서 열린 사관학교 임관식에서 "이스라엘편을 드는 자들은 이번 행동의 배후(하마스의 이스라엘 공격)가 이란이라는 소문을 퍼뜨리고 있다"면서 "하지만 그들은 틀렸다"고 주장했다.

한편, 미국의 존 커비 백악관 국가안보회의(NSC) 전략소통조정관은 이날 MSNBC와의 인터뷰에서 '하마스 배후설'과 관련 "우린 이란이 하마스 공격에 개입했다는 확실한 증거는 보지 못했다"고 전제하면서 "하지만 공모 수준에 있을 가능성이 있다"고 밝혔다.
커비 조정관은 "우리는 계속해서 (이란) 개입 여부를 살펴볼 것이며 이스라엘이 스스로를 방어하고 하마스를 추적하기 위해 필요한 탄약, 무기, 도구를 확실히 갖추도록 하는데 초점을 맞추고 있다"고 설명했다.

Iran's Supreme Leader "We're not behind Hamas" Full Denial
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has flatly denied that he was behind the Israeli attacks by the militant Hamas group that controls Palestinian Gaza.

Meanwhile, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, said in an interview with MSNBC that "we have not seen any solid evidence that Iran was involved in the Hamas attack," adding that "but it is likely to be at the level of conspiracy."
"We will continue to look at (Iranian) involvement and are focused on ensuring that Israel has the ammunition, weapons and tools it needs to defend itself and track Hamas," Kirby said.
