브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이스라엘이 가자지구 내에 있는 팔레스타인 주민들에게 남쪽으로 이동하라는 통보를 하면서 지상군 투입이 임박한 게 아니냐는 관측이 나온다.
12일(현지시간) AP통신에 따르면 유엔은 이스라엘이 가자지구 내 약 110만명의 팔레스타인 주민들에게 24시간 내로 남쪽으로 이동하라고 통보한 사실을 공개했다.
스테판 두자릭 유엔 대변인은 이같은 내용을 전하면서, 이동 통보는 팔레스타인 주민 뿐 아니라 가자지구 내에 머물고 있는 유엔 직원을 비롯해 학교, 보건소 근무자, 언론인 등에게도 적용된다고 전했다.
두자릭 대변인은 "하지만 인도주의적 결과가 없이는 이런 이동이 일어날 수 없을 것이라 생각한다"면서 "만약 이 명령이 확정된 것이라면 비극적인 상황이 재앙으로 변하는 것을 피하기 위해 이를 철회해달라"고 강조했다.
이스라엘의 이같은 통보는 지상군 투입이 임박했기 때문이란 관측이 나온다. 이스라엘은 가자지구 접경 지역에 30만명에 달하는 예비군 병력과 육군의 주력전차인 메르카바 탱크 등을 대거 배치하고 있으며 투입 시기에 대한 결정만이 남았다.
다니엘 하가리 이스라엘군 수석 대변인도 "더이상 하마스가 옆에 존재하는 것을 허용하지 않는다"며 보복의지를 지속해서 드러내고 있는 만큼, 지상군 투입은 기정사실화되고 있다.
베냐민 네타냐후 이스라엘 총리도 TV연설을 통해 "모든 하마스 조직원은 죽은 목숨"이라며 "하마스는 IS다. 세계가 IS를 격파하고 제거한 것처럼 하마스도 그렇게 될 것"이라고 맹비난했다.
반면 하마스 역시도 "이스라엘이 공격을 멈춰야만 인질 문제를 논의할 것"이라며 강경한 입장을 굽히지 않고 있다.
한편, 12일 기준 양측 전사자는 3천여명에 육박한다. 이스라엘은 군인 247명을 포함해 1300명 가량 숨졌으며, 가자지구에선 1550여명이 사망하고 부상자는 7000여명이 훌쩍 넘었다.
