군에 따르면 올해 2월 24일부터 26일까지 3일간 삼사해상공원에서 열린 26회 축제는 4년 만에 오프라인으로 개최됐음에도 불구하고 에어돔 도입과 차별화된 먹거리 판매 부스 운영 등으로 6만여 명의 관광객들이 찾아 성공적인 평가를 받았다.
이에 영덕군과 위원회는 올해의 성과를 바탕으로 내년 축제에 영덕대게 낚시, 달리기, 경매 등의 인기 체험 프로그램과 지역민이 자발적으로 참여할 수 있는 프로그램을 마련해 축제를 더욱 풍성하게 기획하고 있다.
또한, 삼사해상공원에서 행사를 치르며 지적됐던 부지 협소 문제는 야외공연장 등 기존 유휴공간을 활용해 풀어나갈 계획이다.
이상호 영덕대게축제위원장은 “축제를 알차게 준비하는 것은 물론 영덕대게 물량을 충분히 확보해 축제장을 찾은 관광객들에게 맛과 품질이 보장된 영덕대게를 싸고 위생적으로 즐길 수 있도록 하겠다“고 밝혔다.
김광열 영덕군수는 “영덕대게축제의 기본값이자 주인공은 영덕대게의 품질과 명성”이라며, “내년 축제를 찾은 방문객이면 누구라도 어렵지 않게 대게 맛을 볼 수 있도록 체험 프로그램을 대폭 강화할 방침”이라고 밝혔다.
