박민 사장은 이날 서울 영등포구 KBS 아트홀에서 열린 기자회견에서 "앞으로 공영방송 공정성과 신뢰성 확보를 KBS 경영의 최우선 가치로 두겠다"며 국민 앞에 고개를 숙였다.
박 사장은 KBS의 잘못된 불공정 보도에 대해 조목조목 짚어나갔다.
그는 "KBS 1TV의 대표 프로그램인 아홉시 뉴스(뉴스9)는 '검언유착' 사건 오보로 하루 만에 사과했고, 사법 당국의 수사로 관련자가 기소됐다"면서 "고 장자연 씨 사망과 관련해선 후원금 사기 혐의 윤지오 씨를 취재해 허위주장을 펼치도록 했다"고 설명했다.
이어 "2021년 서울시장 재보궐 선거 때 오세훈 시장 생태탕 의혹을 집중적으로 보도, 선거판에 영향을 끼쳤다는 비판을 받았다"며 "2022년 대통령선거 직전에는 김만배 녹취록을 보도했고, 방송통신심의위원회는 어제 KBS에 과장금 3000만원 중징계를 내렸다"고 말했다.

박 사장은 "몇 년간 불공정·편파 논란이 끊이지 않았다"며 "TV·라디오 방송에서도 일부 진행자가 편향된 경우가 적지 않았다"고 했다.

KBS 경영 방향에 대해서도 "지난해 수신료 7000억원을 받았지만, 방만 경영으로 100억원 적자를 냈다. 올해도 800억원 적자 예상되고 있다"면서 "수신료 분리 징수로 과거 IMF보다 비상 상황을 맞았다. 기존 경영 방식으로 위기를 헤쳐나갈 수 없는 만큼 특단의 경영에 나서겠다"고 말했다.
