문공열 박사(호=백민. 1966년생) 서법(서예) 개인전이 3월18일 오후 4시 서울시 종로구 삼일대로 강호 갤러리 2층에서 오픈한다. 이 개인전의 주제는 “지혜의 샘”. 최근 작품 30점이 전시된다.
문공열 교수는 현재 중국 인민대학의 교수. 지난 2004년부터 이 대학의 교수로 재임해왔다. 문 교수는 그동안 여러 차례 가진 서법 전시회로 한-중 문화교류-협력에 기여해왔다.
문 교수는 그 동안 중국 서법계(서예계)로부터 이 분야의 뛰어난 예술가로 평가를 받아왔다. 이번 서법(서예) 전시회는 문공열 교수의 8회 개인전. 문공열 교수는 5세 때부터 서법(서예)을 수련, 서법(서예)분야에서 61년 간의 탁마(琢磨)과정을 거친 예술가이다.

이해찬 전 총리는 문공열 교수의 전시회에 보낸 축사에서 “백민 문공열 교수 ‘지혜의 샘’ 서예 작품전에 오니 옛 생각이 납니다. 문공열 교수님은 한국과 중국의 문화를 잇는 보기 드문 학자이기도 합니다”면서 “지난 수십년 동안 문공열 교수를 보니 저절로 웃음이 납니다. 천진난만하면서도 사람에 대한 깊은 사유를 할 줄 아는 사람입니다. 문공열 교수님은 저와 오랜 동안 함께 하신 분인데, 어려서 부친께 한학(漢學)을 배워 글도 잘 쓰시지만 술도 잘하시고 말씀도 잘하십니다”고 소개했다.

이어 “2년 전 전시회에서 찾아뵈었던 것 같은데 오랜만에 오늘 작품전 주제가 ‘지혜의 샘’이라고 전시한다 합니다. 그간 어떤 필체인지 궁금합니다. 요즘 동북아 정세가 어렵습니다. 남북 관계는 말할 것도 없고, 한·중-미·중관계도 그동안 쌓아올린 신뢰와 협력의 기반이 흔들리고 있습니다”면서 “평화는 고정된 것이 아닙니다. 각국의 ‘힘’이 아니라 상대를 인정하는 바탕 위에 대화와 교류를 통해 점진적으로 쌓아 가는 것이죠. 이럴 때, 중국을 대표하는 인민대학교의 문공열 교수님 작품전이 열리는 것은 한·중 교류, 민간 문화 협력에 좋은 계기가 될 것이라 봅니다”고 피력했다. 이해찬 전 총리는 이 축사에서 “문공열 교수님 서풍이 ‘고졸미(古拙美, 예스럽고 소박함)로 알려져 있는데, 과거를 넘어 늘 새로운 서법과 필체에 대한 도전을 보여주고 있습니다. 이 전시회에서도 최근 벌어지고 있는 혼돈의 시대상을 넘어 한·중 양국과 동북아에 평화와 공존의 희망을 담은 좋은 작품을 볼 수 있기를 기대합니다”고 덧붙였다.
