브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회가 말 보호 및 복지에 대한 국민적 관심과 인식 수준 향상을 위해 ‘말 복지와 동물보호’ 온라인 교육 과정을 운영한다.
한국마사회는 그간 외부 전문가들의 의견을 반영해 마련한 말복지 가이드라인, 퇴역경주마 복지가이드라인 등이 현장에서 적극적으로 활용되지 못하고 있다는 점을 인식하고 이에 대한 대책의 일환으로 이번 교육과정을 마련했다.
‘말 복지와 동물보호’ 교육과정은 △동물보호 관련 법규 △국내외 말 복지 가이드라인 소개 △말 복지 개념과 말 관리방법 △해외 퇴역경주마 복지 정책 사례 △국제승마연맹(FEI) 말 복지 행동강령 등 총 5개 차시로 구성됐다. 각 차시는 전문가의 강의를 통해 국민 누구나가 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 했으며, 모든 차시를 수강한 후에는 교육 이수증을 발급받을 수도 있다.
한국마사회는 정부의 말 복지 정책의 적극적인 이행을 위해 2023년부터 마주협회와 공동으로 조성해 온 더러브렛 복지기금을 활용해 망아지 각인 순치, 부상 경주마 재활, 퇴역경주마 전용 승마대회, 승용전환 조련 등 말 생애주기 복지지원 사업을 지속적으로 확대해 나가기로 했다. 또한, 정부의 말 복지 교육 확대 정책에 맞춰, 온라인 교육을 받아야만 복지기금 사업 지원 신청을 할 수 있도록 제도개선도 함께 추진했다.
교육수강을 위해서는 한국마사회 개방형 온라인 교육 플랫폼 에서 회원 가입을 하고 PC 또는 스마트폰을 이용, 플랫폼에 접속하고 언제 어디서나 교육을 이수할 수 있다.
한국마사회 정기환 회장은 “지속가능한 말산업 발전을 위해서는 말 복지증진을 위한 말산업종사자의 의식 향상이 함께 병행되어야 한다”며 “향후 말 복지와 관련된 다양한 교육 콘텐츠와 홍보 프로그램을 개발하는 등 말 복지 교육과 홍보 사업을 강화해 말 복지에 대한 전반적인 인식 제고에 힘쓰도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
