[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 밀양시는 25일 김해~밀양 고속도로 건설사업에 대한 예비타당성조사 현장 조사가 실시됐다고 밝혔다.

이날 실시된 현장 조사는 김해~밀양 고속도로 건설사업이 지난 2022년에 수립된 제2차 고속도로 건설계획에 반영돼 올해 5월 기획재정부 재정사업평가위원회 심의를 거쳐 예비타당성조사 대상 사업으로 선정됨에 따라 이뤄졌다.

이날 조사는 한국개발연구원, 국토교통부, 한국도로공사, 경상남도, 밀양시, 김해시 관계자 등이 참여한 가운데 사업 노선에 대한 설명, 의견 수렴과 현장 조사가 이어졌다.

시 관계자는 사업의 시급성과 당위성을 적극적으로 설명했다.

안병구 밀양시장은 “김해~밀양 고속도로 건설은 부산신항~김해 고속도로 건설과 연계해 가덕도신공항과 부산신항의 연결성이 크게 강화되어 물류비용 절감 등 지역경제에 크게 이바지할 것이다”며 “예비타당성조사 통과를 위해 앞으로도 관계기관과 긴밀히 협의하고 사업 타당성 확보에 총력을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

김해~밀양 고속도로 건설사업은 가덕도신공항과 부산신항으로의 연계 교통망을 구축해 접근성을 높이고 물류를 원활히 하기 위해 남해고속도로 북진례 분기점에서 중앙고속도로 남밀양나들목을 연결하는 연장 19.8km의 4차로 신설 사업으로 1조 4,965억원의 국비가 투입되는 대형 사업이다.
