한국원자력환경공단, 핀란드 Fortum과 중·저준위 방사성폐기물 관리 분야 협력한다

공단 관계자는 "이번 MOU를 통해 Fortum의 40년 이상 축적된 경험과 전문 지식을 활용할 수 있게 됐다"라며 "특히 중·저준위 방사성폐기물 최종 처분장 운영 경험은 우리 공단의 방사성 폐기물 관리 역량 강화에 큰 도움이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.

Fortum 측은 "이번 MOU로 KORAD와의 협력 강화 및 새로운 서비스 프로젝트 기회 발굴을 기대한다"라고 전했다.

양측은 그간 두 차례에 걸쳐 중·저준위 방사성폐기물 관리 및 처분 관련 자문을 주고받은 바 있다. 이번 MOU를 계기로 정보 및 경험 공유가 더욱 활발해질 전망이다.
