(July 8, 2024. Los Angeles) Rookie actor Kim Myeong Ho(김명호 배우) has been cast in the lead role of the new Korean film ‘Flames of April,’ based on the Korean history of the April 19, 1960 revolution.
Red Panorama, a film production company, announced in a press release on July 7, “The March 15th Movement, which sparked the April 19 Revolution, began with the cries of citizens in Masan City. As the April 19 movement spread, the pain of that era, echoed by the citizens, was captured in the film ‘Flames of April’. The film tells the stories of young people who were sacrificed, a corner of disappearing history. The stories of these youths, the March 15th Movement, and Kim Joo-yeol's mother, who announced the start of the student movement, are being brought to the screen by Red Panorama Co., Ltd., with the hope that students will remember this history. We tell the story of the 3.15 election fraud and 4.19 student protests from the perspective of the MZ generation,” they introduced.

The press release continued, “Director Song Yeon-sin, who understands the pain of that era, and young director Do Young-chan will lead the project together, shedding new light on the fireworks of April as seen from the perspective of the MZ generation. In particular, along with middle-aged actor Jo Eun-sook (Kim Joo-yeol's mother), 20-year-old actor Kim Myeong Ho has been cast as the lead to tell this history to the MZ generation. Together with director Do Young-chan, they will express the feelings and agony of today's young people alongside the pain of the young people of that era. Kim Myeong Ho, who plays the role of Lee Kang-seok, both Lee Seung-man’s adoptive son and his imposter, delivers solid acting skills and an appealing expression, despite the story being set in a bygone era. Directors Song Yeon-sin and Do Young-chan have praised his performance,” they explained.
Red Panorama Co., Ltd. added, “Writer Jeong Dae-seong, who wrote this scenario, has become one with the actor and could often be seen on set. He emphasized that this film, which reexamines history, will be interesting for both middle-aged and young people as they watch it from various perspectives.”
Kim Myeong Ho, who plays the main character in this film, was recently nominated for the Best Actor Award at the LA Web Film Festival alongside world-famous actress Anne Hathaway for the film '82 Degrees of Love.' He has received significant attention from overseas media and even a special Best Actor Award from the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory. He is emerging as a next-generation promising star, attracting positive responses from the MZ generation for his lead role in the web series movie “Secretly Sweetly Season 1-3” (Director: Young Man Kang). Joining him are Song Min-kyung, a former member of THE CIA, and Weki Meki’s Lucy and Sei, who are expected to captivate young movie fans. Additionally, talented actor Jo Jae-yoon, musical actors Park Dong-ha, Jo Jeong-geun, and Jeon Young-joo will appear, and actor Choi Bul-am’s narration will further highlight this important history,” the company added.
