윤석열 대통령이 30일 페니 웡 호주 외교장관을 접견하고 한·호주 관계 발전 방안에 대해 의견을 교환했다.
대통령실에 따르면 윤 대통령은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 윙 장관과 만나 "역내·국제사회에서 여러 전략적 도전 요인이 증가하고 있는 가운데 6·25전쟁에 참전해 함께 싸운 우방국이자 우리 인도·태평양 전략 이행에 핵심 파트너인 호주와의 연대가 우리에게 중요하다"고 강조했다.
그러면서 "앞으로 안보·경제·방산 협력 분야에서 양국 관계가 한 단계 더 도약해 나가길 희망한다"고 말했다.
이에 윙 장관은 "윤 대통령 취임 이후 한·호주 간 협력이 강화되고 있음을 체감한다"며 "특히 안보·방위산업·경제안보 분야에서 양국 간 협력이 확대되고 지역·국제 무대에서 전략적 협력관계가 더욱 발전될 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 화답했다.
