브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자는 포스코와의 협업으로 재생 소재 함량을 높인 법랑용 강판을 공동 개발해 UL 솔루션즈로부터 ECV(Environmental Claims Validations) 인증을 받았다고 2일 밝혔다.
ECV 인증은 재사용·재활용이 가능한 소재의 사용률이나 유해 물질 함유율 등 제품의 환경성 주장에 대한 타당성을 검증해 부여하는 환경마크다. 제조 공정상 재생 소재 함유율에 대한 공정 심사 및 엔지니어 리뷰 등 검증이 필요해 인증 절차가 까다롭다.
삼성전자와 포스코가 공동 개발한 법랑용 강판은 포스코의 전로(轉爐) 공정에서 재활용 소재를 다량 용해하는 기술을 활용해 재생 소재 함유율을 UL 솔루션즈가 인증하는 12%까지 높였다.
이 소재는 국내에 판매되는 빌트인 오븐∙ 큐커 오븐∙전자레인지 내부에 적용될 예정이다.
법랑용 강판은 유리질 유약을 도포하여 고온에서 구워내는 법랑 코팅에 적합한 강판으로, 법랑용 강판과 유리질의 장점을 결합해 주로 조리기기 내부 조리실 등에 널리 사용된다.
삼성전자는 향후 포스코와의 협업을 확대해 재생 법랑용 강판뿐만 아니라, 내년부터 냉장고 도어·세탁기 세탁통·식기세척기 내부 등에 재생 소재가 함유된 스테인리스 강판을 확대 적용할 계획이다.
아울러 삼성전자는 다양한 재활용 소재를 적극 사용해 환경 부담을 줄이기 위해 노력하고 있다. 대표적으로 올해 첫선을 보인 올인원 세탁건조기 ‘비스포크 AI 콤보’는 커버도어에 플라스틱의 일종인 재활용 수지 에이비에스(ABS,Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)가 10% 함유됐고, 세탁기 도어 안전유리 고정 부품에는 산업현장에서 사용된 스크랩 원료를 재활용한 수지를 20% 적용했다.
앞서 2022년 처음 선보인 ‘비스포크 인피니트 라인(Bespoke Infinite Line)’ 냉장고에는 지난해 7월부터 재활용 알루미늄을 37% 포함한 패널을 적용해 UL솔루션즈 인증을 취득한 바 있다.
불순물이 없고 색상이 균일한 알루미늄 3중 구조 접합 기술로 고급스러운 디자인과 품격을 유지하면서도 알루미늄 재활용률을 높인 것이 특징이다. 이 소재는 올해 4월부터 생산된 비스포크 4도어와 김치냉장고에도 순차 적용해, 향후에도 적용 제품군을 지속적으로 확대할 계획이다
이 밖에도 비스포크 냉장고 외관용 부품인 비스포크 커스텀 패널에는 올 6월 생산 부품부터 유리 원판을 생산하는 공정이나 가공 공정에서 발생하는 부산물을 재활용한 유리를 9% 적용해 재활용 소재 채택 비중을 확대했다. 이 소재 역시 23년 UL솔루션즈 인증을 획득했다.
삼성전자는 오는 6일부터 독일 베를린에서 열리는 유럽 최대 가전 전시회 ‘IFA 2024’에 지속가능성(Sustainability)존을 마련해 비스포크 AI 콤보에 적용된 재활용 소재와 폐전자제품 회수를 위한 노력을 소개할 예정이다.
