충남 천안시 서북구 신당동에서 성거읍 송남리까지 4.4㎞ 구간을 새롭게 연결하는 천안 국도 대체 우회도로가 5일 개통된다.
3일 대전국토관리청에 따르면 이번에 개통되는 천안 국도 대체 우회도로는 총 사업비 1,343억원을 투입됐다. 지난 2017년 4월에 착공돼 7년 여의 공사 기간 끝에 이날 마무리된다
대전청은 천안 우회 도로 개통으로 운전자 안전 확보는 물론 이동거리(3.1km)와 주행시간(6분) 단축이 가능할 것으로 봤다.
또 서북구 성당동에서 성거읍 송남리 구간을 잇는 지역 간 연결도로망 확충으로 국도1호선 교통혼잡을 해소하고 물류비용 절감 효과도 기대된다.
특히 , 장래에 성거-목천 도로건설과 연결되어 외곽도로 기능을 통한 도심축 확대 효과와 도로 간선기능이 더욱 개선될 것이라는 게 대전청 관계자의 설명이다.
대전국토관리청 방윤석 청장은 “평소 국도 1호선 서북교차로 구간의 교통정체로 어려움을 겪던 지역주민들에게 빠르고 쾌적한 교통환경을 제공하게 돼 출·퇴근 시간 교통체증 완화 등에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.
