브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 현재 LTE 요금제에 가입한 이용자 수는 1300만명에 달하고 있지만, 속도가 느린 LTE 단말기의 일부 요금제가 5G 요금제보다 오히려 더 비싼 것으로 나타났다.
최수진 국민의 힘 의원이 과기부로부터 제출받은 ‘이통 3사 주요 LTE·5G 요금제 현황자료를 분석한 결과, 통신 3사의 LTE/5G 합산 서비스 가입자는 2024년도 6월 기준 총 4713만2393 명에 달한다. 이 중에서 LTE(4G) 서비스 가입자는 1340만215 명(28.4%)으로 전체 가입자수의 1/3에 달했다. 5G 서비스 가입자는 3373만2178명(71.5%)이다.
2023년 통신서비스 품질평가 결과, LTE 서비스의 3사 평균 다운로드 속도는 179Mbps이며, 5G 전송속도인 939Mbps에 비해 1/5 수준에 불과하다.

한편, LTE 요금의 최저금액은 SKT, KT, LGU+ 모두 3만3000원으로, 5G 최저금액인 SKT 3만9000원 , KT 3만7000원, LGU+ 3만7000원과 비교해 볼 때 싼 것으로 나타났다.
