대통령실이 12일 야당 일부 의원들의 '윤석열 탄핵준비 의원연대' 결성에 대해 "더불어민주당 이재명 대표 재판 1심 선고가 임박하자 탄핵을 통해 이 대표를 지키려는 이재명 방탄연대 빌드업이 맞느냐"고 반문했다.
정혜전 대통령실 대변인은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 "야당이 계엄 괴담을 떠벌리더니 역시 예상대로 탄핵 빌드업을 하려던 의도가 서서히 드러나고 있다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "개헌·탄핵을 국민에 세뇌하던 야당이 이제 공공연하게 탄핵 준비를 한다 말한다"며 "판결 전후해 대규모 불법 집회로 극심한 국정 혼란을 유도할 것이란 제보들도 쏟아지고 있다는데 실제 그런 것이냐"고 거듭 반문했다.
또 "계엄령 괴담을 아직까지 붙잡고 만들 필요도 없는 계엄령 개정안을 만든다 한다"며 "야당을 수사하는 검사·판사 탄핵도 모자라 이제 대통령 탄핵까지 하겠다는 것이냐"고 비판했다.
더불어 "정치가 국민을 안심시키는 것도 모자라는데 이렇게 불안에 떨게 만든다면 민주당을 비롯 야당은 정당 자격조차 없을 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
앞서 더불어민주당·조국혁신당·진보당·사회민주당 소속 일부 의원들은 전날 '탄핵준비 의원연대'를 결성하고 탄핵 발의에 필요한 의원을 확보키로 했다.
한편 정 대변인은 윤석열 대통령의 오는 추석 연휴 행보 관련해선 "윤 대통령은 추석 연휴동안 국민 생명·건강권과 관련된 의료·안전·안보 행보를 할 계획"이라며 "내일부터 의료·치안·재난 안전·국가안보 현황을 살피기 위해 현장방문을 시작한다"고 전했다.
또 "응급의료센터 포함 병원 두어곳과 경찰서·소방서·군부대를 방문 예정"이라며 "가족품을 떠나 나라 지키고 있는 군장병을 위해 추석맞이 간식도 준비 예정"이라고 덧붙였다.
