[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시는 ‘시화호의 날’ 기념행사가 거북섬에서 열린다.
이덕환 환경국장은 23일 개최한 언론브리핑을 통해 ‘기적의 시화호, 미래를 여는 물결이 되다’를 슬로건으로 ‘2024 시화호의 날 기념행사’를 추진한다.
그간 시흥시는 조성 30주년을 맞이한 시화호를 신성장 동력으로 확보하고자 시화호 권역 기관과 함께 다양한 기념 사업을 펼쳐왔으며, 이번 행사는 시화호 기념 사업의 핵심이라고 할 수 있다. 무엇보다 지난 9월, 경기도가 10월 10일을 시화호의 날로 지정해 기념행사의 의미를 더하고 있다.
이덕환 환경국장은 “시화호는 개발 우선 사회에 전국민적으로 환경 의제를 일깨워 준 곳이다. 또, 대한민국 생태 회복의 성공모델이자 개발과 보존의 대립을 ’상생과 협력‘의 역사로 간직한 곳”이라며 “이번 행사는 이러한 시화호의 역사와 환경적 가치를 더 널리 알리는 뜻깊은 기회가 될 것”이라고 강조했다.
사전 행사로는 시화호의 학술적 측면을 조명하는 국내외 학술행사가 열리며, 시화호 사진 전시, 환경 골든벨, 시화호 역사 어린이 뮤지컬 등 다양한 연령대와 세대를 아우르는 프로그램이 진행될 예정이다.
특히, 이번 기념행사는 2024 대한민국 지속가능발전대회, 제36회 시흥시 시민의 날 기념식 등과 연계해 오는 10월 10일부터 12일까지 3일간 개최한다. 시화호를 재탄생시킨 협력적 거버넌스의 의미와 역량을 재현하고, 생명과 화합의 시화호 정신을 전국적으로 확산한다는 취지다.
지속가능발전을 고민하는 학술대회, 포럼을 비롯해 지역사회에 헌신하는 시민들을 위한 행사 등을 추진하며 상징적 거버넌스가 함께 어우러지는 축제의 장이 펼쳐질 계획이다.
