이에 경주시는 이 같은 내용을 담은 ‘경주시 영유아 장난감도서관 설치 및 운영 조례’의 일부 개정안을 입법 예고하고, 절차를 진행 중이다.
관련 규정은 빠르면 올해 연말부터 변경될 예정이다.
‘경주시 아이누리 장난감도서관’은 2010년 12월에 개소했으며, 경주시립도서관 별관의 ‘본점’과 경주시 여성행복드림센터의 ‘행복드림점’ 등 2곳에서 운영되고 있다.
‘영유아에게 질 좋은 장난감 대여와 양육비 절감’을 목표로 설립된 이 장난감도서관은 다자녀, 한부모, 장애인, 유공자 자녀에게는 무료로, 일반 시민 자녀에게는 연간 1만 원의 저렴한 이용료로 제공된다.
‘경주시 아이누리 장난감도서관’은 최근 3년 간 장난감 대여 횟수가 4만 9894회에 이를 만큼, 경주시의 대표적인 보육정책으로 자리 잡았다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “이 사업을 통해 장난감이 필요한 영유아와 어린이들의 놀이권을 보장하고, 부모들의 경제적 부담을 줄여 경주가 아이 키우기 좋은 도시로 자리매김할 수 있기를 바란다”고 말했다.
