<October 5, 2024. Los Angeles> Filmmaker Young Man Kang has released episode 15 of his ‘Prayer International Series’, titled "Prayer Wetzlar," on YouTube.
"Prayer Wetzlar" was filmed during the opening ceremony of the 250th Anniversary of Goethe's "Werther" in Wetzlar, Germany, which took place at the Lottehaus in mid-September. The exhibition for the event will be held throughout the year, attracting international tourists. Wetzlar is well known as the town where Goethe, in his youth, met Lotte and fell in love. However, Lotte was already engaged to someone else, and Goethe's unrequited love inspired him to write the renowned novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. Lotte was a real person, and her house, the Lottehaus, remains a famous museum in the town and one of the key venues for the anniversary exhibition.

Young Man Kang decided to make a short film, "Prayer Wetzlar," as part of the Prayer International Series. The Wetzlar museum supported the project. Dr. Anja Eichler from the museum stated, "We are very happy to work with Young Man Kang. We’re very familiar with his work, including his previous film and series, Lotte Haus, and the short documentary Goethe Meets Lotte. This is our third collaboration, and we believe this film will be a great promotional tool for the town, the museum, and the special event."
Young Man Kang added, "Since 2017, when I discovered the Lottehaus in Wetzlar, I’ve been excited to produce digital content featuring this historic location on social media. Through this process, I was able to create a connection between the Lottehaus and Lotte Corporation in South Korea, highlighting their cultural ties. The project Lotte Haus was part of my vision, and now, I am continuing my work to connect this town with the Prayer International Series."
