광주시, 탄소중립 찾아가는 환경교육 개최

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광주 이현준기자] 광주시 지속가능발전협의회는 ‘SDGs 탄소중립 찾아가는 환경교육’을 성공적으로 마무리했다.

광주하남교육지원청과 공동으로 주최한 이번 교육은 탄소중립과 지속가능 발전에 대한학생들의 이해를 높이고 실생활에서 이를 실천할 수 있도록 돕는 것을목표로 5월부터 9월까지 5개월간 진행됐으며 총 16개초등학교에서 103회의 교육이 이뤄졌다.

10명의 전문 강사진이 참여한 이번 교육을 통해 학생들은 탄소중립의중요성과 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)에 대해 깊이 있는 학습을 했으며 교육 과정에서 배운 내용을 바탕으로 에너지 절약, 자원재활용, 대중교통 이용 등 일상생활 속에서 탄소 발자국을 줄이고 환경을보호하는 다양한 방법들을 실천했다.

특히, 교육에 참여한 학생들은 환경교육이 지속적으로 이뤄져 탄소중립 실현에 기여할 수 있도록 환경 보호의 필요성을 일깨우는 계기가 됐다.

정창우 광주시지속가능발전협의회 상임회장은 “이번 환경교육을 통해 학생들이 탄소중립과 지속가능 발전의 중요성을 체감할 수 있었기를 바란다”며 “미래 세대가 환경보호의 주역으로 성장할 수 있도록 지속가능한 교육을 더욱 확대해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
