이천시, 제23회 이천쌀문화축제

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=이천 이현준기자] 이천시는 제23회 이천쌀문화축제를 개최한다.

이천의 대표적 특산물인 쌀을 주제로 열리는 축제는 오는 10월 16일부터 20일까지 5일간 이천농업테마공원에서 관광객을 맞이한다.

문화체육관광부가 선정한 로컬100(지역문화매력 100선)과 경기도·경기관광공사에서 선정한 경기관광축제로 치러지는 이천쌀문화축제는 ‘쌀로 만든 모든 것, Made in Icheon’을 슬로건으로 그 어느 때보다도 풍성한 볼거리와 먹거리 그리고 즐길거리로 관람객들에게 오감만족을 선사할 예정이다.

이천은 우리나라 쌀 문화의 중심지로 유명하다. ‘임금님표이천쌀’은 이미 국내 대표 브랜드 쌀로 자리매김할 정도로 이천쌀의 명성은 오래전부터 전국으로 널리 알려져 있다.

이천쌀문화축제는 이 같은 이천쌀의 명성을 기반으로 우리나라 쌀문화와 전통농경문화를 계승·발전하고자 마련된 축제이다. 아이들에게는 전통농경문화를 체험할 수 있는 기회를, 어른들에게는 옛 추억의 향수를 자아내며 삼대가 함께 어울리게 만드는 놀이터라 할 수 있다.
