대통령실이 17일 'K·방산' 경쟁력 제고 및 수출 확대를 위해 민·관 협력을 가속화하고 범 정부 차원에서 적극 지원키로 했다고 밝혔다.
인성환 국가안보실 제2차장은 이날 용산 대통령실 국방컨벤션에서 주재한 '제6차 방산수출전략평가회의'에서 "K·방산에 대한 견제가 심화되고 있는 상황"이라며 "대형사업 수주를 위해 정부·기업이 대한민국 원팀으로 힘합쳐 세계시장에 나아갈 필요가 있다"고 밝혔다.
그러면서 "방산 수출·방위 산업이 국가경제·일자리 창출에 매우 중요 역할을 할 것"이라며 "대통령실에서도 지원을 아끼지 않을 것"이라고 강조했다
이번 회의 경우 국가안보실 주도로 정부·기업이 한자리에 모여 방산수출 현안과 전략을 논의하는 자리로 지난 2023년 4월 첫 회의 이후 여섯 번째 열렸다.
방산업체들은 'K·방산' 세계 시장점유율 증가로 글로벌 견제가 심화되고 있다고 평가한 가운데 범 정부 차원 대응과 함께 방산·국방·에너지·인력·교육 등 포괄적 협력 패키지 지원이 필요하다는 점을 강조했다.
국방부·방사청 등 관계 부처는 진행 중인 방산협력을 위해 국가별 고위급 협의를 지속하면서 필요 시 정부 합동협상단을 구성해 적극 지원할 것을 약속했다.
구체적으론 폴란드와의 70억불 규모 K2 전차 수출 포함 442억불 규모 방산 협력 사업이 원활히 이행되도록 긴밀히 협력키로 한 가운데 탄약·잠수함 등 폴란드와의 추가 방산협력 확대에 대해 다양한 의견을 나눴다.
또 호주 호위함 수출사업·캐나다 잠수함 수출사업 등 대형사업 수주를 위해 대한민국 원팀을 구성해 패키지로 수출 지원을 추진할 계획이다.
국가안보실은 "호주는 단순 무기체계 판매를 넘어 우리와 안보 전략 가치 공유 국가로 밀접한 관계인 만큼 국내·외 주요 행사 및 고위급 교류·연합 연습 등 국방·방산 협력을 확대해 나갈 예정"이라며 "포괄적 전략 동반자인 캐나다와는 외교·국방(2+2) 장관 회의를 새롭게 개최해 네트워킹을 강화하고 K·방산을 홍보해 나갈 것"이라고 전했다.
