이북5도위원회 세종사무소가 20일 서울 효창운동장에서 열린 제42회 대통령기 체육대회에 참가해 전국에서 모인 이북도민들과 친목을 다졌다.
행정안전부 이북5도위원회와 사단법인 이북도민회 중앙연합회가 공동으로 개최한 이번 대회는 지난 1983년 '이북5도 청년체육대회'를 시작으로 매년 열리고 있다.
올해는 이상민 행정안전부 장관과 기덕영 이북5도위원장 및 각 도지사를 비롯해 전국의 이북도민과 북한이탈주민 등 1만 여명이 참여했다.
대회는 식전행사를 시작으로 선수단 입장과 개회식, 축하공연, 축구 등 운동경기, 폐회식 순으로 진행됐다.
윤석열 대통령은 영상으로 대회를 축하했고 경기 결과 종합 우승은 평안남도가 차지했다.
이번 대회에는 특히 북한이탈주민들이 대거 참여해 이북도민들과 소통하며 하나되는 모습을 보여줘 이북5도의 미래를 밝게 했다.
세종시에서는 50여 명이 참가해 화합과 단결을 도모했다. 이들은 대회가 끝나고 근처에 있는 백범 김구 기념관과 전쟁기념관을 둘러보고 돌아왔다.
홍근진 세종사무소장은 "오늘 뜻깊은 체육대회를 무사히 치룰 수 있어서 기쁘다"며 "이번 대회에서 이북도민과 북한이탈주민들이 보여준 화합과 단결의 모습은 장차 평화통일을 이루는 기반이 될 것"이라고 말했다.
