울진군은 11농가에서 2.1ha 규모로 설향 품종을 중심으로 비타베리 신품종 딸기를 재배하고 있으며, 동해안의 해풍과 온난한 기후에서 생산되어 진한 딸기향과 당도가 높아 소비자에게 좋은 평가를 받고 있다.
특히 올해는 울진군농업기술센터에서 딸기육묘환경개선 신기술보급 시범사업 및 맞춤형 현장 기술을 지원하여 울진군 딸기 재배농가의 고품질 딸기 우량묘 자체 생산 역량을 강화하였다. 아울러 딸기 육묘시 냉풍장치 등을 이용하여 딸기 화아분화 및 개화기를 일주일 정도 앞당겼다.
손병복 울진군수는“올해 가을철 이상고온과 잦은 강우로 딸기 균일묘 생산이 힘들었다”라며 “울진군에서 생산되는 진한 딸기향과 당도 높은 고품질 딸기의 조기수확과 농가소득 향상을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
