둘이는 맨해튼 동쪽 부자마을 스시 집에 앉아
몇 시간씩 살아가는
이야기를 나눴다.
만났던 생각이
자꾸 시도 때도 없이
그 생각이 없어지질 않아
사랑은
지독한 것이라는 걸 뒤늦게 알았다.
참새 두 마리가 나뭇가지에 앉아
긴 시간, 조잘거려
무슨 의사소통을 하는지 알 수 없었는데
먼 훗날, 참새들도

The two sat in a sushi restaurant in a wealthy neighborhood east of Manhattan
and talked about living for hours.
The thought of meeting
continued without fail
and that thought would not go away
I realized belatedly that love is a cruel thing.
Two sparrows sat on a tree branch
and chattered for a long time
I couldn't tell what they were communicating
But in the distant future, even the sparrows
