브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회는 제주특별자치도와 서울 용산에 위치한 장학관 건물의 사회공익적 활용을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
양측은 장학관 건물의 공익적 기능 유지와 효율적 활용을 대전제로 이번 협약을 추진키로 했다. 유휴공간인 장학관 저층부 일부를 제주도에 사무실 용도로 임대하되, 향후 건물 매각 시에도 장학관 운영을 전제로 제주도를 우선협의 대상에 포함하기로 했다.
오영훈 제주도지사는 “장학관 운영을 목적으로 향후 건물을 매입할 계획”이라며 “한국마사회의 적극적인 협조에 감사드리며 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관이 발전적 결실을 맺기를 기대한다”고 전했다.
정기환 한국마사회장은 “이번 협약으로 용산 장학관 건물이 공익적 목적을 유지하면서도 기관 자산의 효율화를 도모할 수 있게 됐다”며 “한국마사회 장학사업을 점진적으로 고도화 시켜 공공기관으로서의 사회적 책임을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
